Coaching skills are now being seen more and more as part of any manager's function. Yet many managers are very task focused and find it difficult to bring out the best in others or to develop them.

This course aims to give managers an understanding of the different behaviour patterns that people have, and in particular gives them a model of coaching and an appreciation of how to get inside the other person's understanding so that coaching becomes effective.

Too often managers approach coaching by offering solutions or giving personal examples of what works for them. Good coaching is about recognising what will work for the individual being coached and that what works brilliantly for one may not work at all for another.

We explore differences in thinking patterns and styles, then look at how to detect and use them for effective coaching.
